Preparation
A well-organised move can save you time and money. You can get a head-start by packing early. Just a box or two a day in the lead-up to your move will prevent the stress of a last-minute rush. This will also give you a chance to dispose of any items you no longer want before moving day.
You may want to reduce costs by moving smaller items yourself and leaving the larger, heavier items to us. Alternatively, placing boxes near the main entrance will make each trip to and from the truck quicker, cutting down on the total time and cost of moving.
Avoid doing a full grocery shop and use up any food in the back of the fridge or pantry before moving day.
Please refrain from watering pot plants. Excess water not only adds weight but can also leak and damage other items.
Clear your schedule. Moving can be a major disruption to your regular routine but it is far better to reorganise any other appointments or commitments so you can focus on the task at hand.
Get a good night's sleep. It's best to come into the day well-rested and with a positive attitude.
Access to property
The closer we can park the faster we can get the job done. If parking is limited please make space for us so that we can park as near to the property as possible.
If you can, please arrange for your children or pets to be elsewhere during the move. Moving is not without risks and keeping your kids and pets safe is of the utmost importance to us.
If lift access is required at either end of your move, please arrange for the elevator to be isolated. Contact building management as they will often be able to provide a key. Sharing a lift with an entire apartment block can unnecessarily extend the job time and increase costs.
Packing
Clearly mark all boxes, this way we know which items may be more fragile and where to put them in your new home. This will also make it easier for your own unpacking.
Don't over or under pack boxes. Overpacking boxes risks having them break while underpacking can needlessly take up excess space or create more trips to and from the truck increasing the time and cost of your move.
For the smoothest move use quality moving boxes, preferably of the same size. This makes it easier to move and stack them in our truck. While we understand there are some costs involved in this, getting our removalists in and out as quickly as possible will save you money over the course of the move.
To protect your mattresses, you can leave your sheets or a mattress protector on. It is much easier to wash a sheet than it is to try to clean a mattress. However your best option may be to buy one of our protective mattress covers.
